New Grad Nurse Resume Template — ATS Nursing CV
A general resume template puts work experience first. For a new graduate nurse that is the weakest thing on the page — and it pushes your licensure, the one section a nurse recruiter actually screens on, to the bottom.
This pack fixes the order. Licences first, clinical rotations doing the work of an experience section, and a clinical skills block written in the exact words that appear in nursing job postings.
The section order
- Licences and certifications — RN licence, NCLEX, BLS, ACLS, with numbers and expiry dates. First, because that is what gets checked first.
- Professional summary — three lines: your strongest rotation and the unit you are applying to.
- Clinical rotations — hospital, unit, hours, patient load. This is your experience section.
- Clinical skills — written the way postings write them, so they get matched.
- Education — BSN or ADN, honours, capstone if it is relevant.
- Healthcare experience — CNA, tech, scribe, EMT, caregiver. Most new grads leave this out, and it is often the strongest thing they have.
What is in it
A new graduate layout (.docx) for up to about two years post-licensure, and an experienced RN layout (.docx) for two or more years at the bedside, built to run to two pages without padding — included rather than sold separately. Plus a structure reference explaining why the order differs and which file is yours, a Start Here guide, and a plain text version for portals that strip formatting.
Why it parses
Single column, contact details in the body rather than the header, no tables, no text boxes and no graphics carrying information. Licence numbers and expiry dates sit as plain text, so a filter searching for “BLS” or “ACLS” finds them.
